Other courses
I provide one-to-one and group training, which is standardised or bespoke, and requires no prior knowledge of finance. Standard courses include:
An introduction to the City and Global financial services (covers the many financial organisations, markets, instruments, and services that collectively make up the City of London, the variety of roles and the types of careers available)
How to read the financial pages (demystifies the jargon so you understand what is really happening in the UK and international financial markets and economies. Uses actual financial news stories or data to understand and apply in real setting personally_
International finance for companies (deals with the interaction of a multinational company with the international financial markets: how it raises finance from various sources; the financial risks it faces and their management (including using derivatives). It also looks at the application of time value of money to value investments, and considers the causes and characteristics of the global financial crisis.
Finance for non-financial managers (explains the structure, operation, and financial risks of a small-medium sized enterprise (SME)
and basic accounting and investment appraisal).
Asset securitisation (its use, effect and the parties involved)
Derivatives for financial risk management (using them properly, improperly and their control)
Bank financial management (how to manage the risks of a commercial bank, starting from an understanding of its financial statements, then using financial ratio analysis to identify relative performance. Credit risk and interest rate risk management methods are analysed , and the calculation of capital requirements).
In addition to providing my own classes, I have designed and delivered some of the above training as evening classes from 2006 at City university, London.
